Created by Dan Robbins in the 1950's, Paint by Numbers kits were a cultural phenomenon that was embraced by millions of aspiring artists. This Ocean puzzle is a Paint by Numbers seascape with rich blue waves crashing on a rocky coastline. The original kit titled "Pounding Surf" contained 40 oil colours which made it among the more detailed of the kits. The finished painting was created by an unknown artist whose personal technique is visible on the canvas. One interesting aspect is the orange trianle on the rock in the bottom right corner of the painting, as that colour was not included in the original kit.
